You deserve a therapist who meets you where you’re at.

How I Got Here
I am an Asheville native with multi-generational roots in the southern Appalachian Mountains. In my lifetime I have lived, studied, and worked in North Carolina, in Rhode Island, Nicaragua, Mexico City, Cuba and Brazil. I hold a Master of Social Work from Western Carolina University, where I received specialized training as a HRSA Integrated Healthcare Scholar. I completed a B.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Brown University, with a supplementary course of study in Geography and the Environment at Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the past I have worked with adolescents in wilderness therapy, with survivors of sexual and domestic violence, with traditional-age and non-traditional age undergraduate and graduate students, and with immigrants and their families. In addition to my work in the mental health field, I have worked in language justice as a Spanish-English interpreter, in community organizing, international education and leadership development, and the service industry. The wide variety of lived experiences I’ve had greatly shapes how I approach my work as a therapist, and has helped me to develop a holistic and multi-faceted approach to human health and well-being.
Behind the Scenes
Our life experiences shape who we are and how we show up. It’s not weird to want to know some things about your therapist, or to want to work with someone who shares parts of your experience or otherwise has insight into your unique position! I identify as queer, working class, white, multi-lingual, neurodivergent, and able-bodied.
When not working as a therapist, I care a lot about building community, making art, and breaking free from both external and internalized oppresion. I enjoy long-distance backpacking, playing around outside, playing soccer, dancing, exploring, writing, reading all the afro-futurist, sci-fi, and speculative fiction I can get my hands on, and making up creative puns with my loved ones. In addition to English, I speak Spanish and Portuguese.
A couple of fun facts:
I’ve hiked across the entirety of Spain, and through over 250 miles of the high sierras in California.
I was on a unicycle team in elementary school that did a choreographed routine to “Mambo No. 5” at halftime at college basketball games. No, there’s no video evidence. Yes, it was absolutely as silly as you are imagining it must have been.
Baby Chelsea, long before becoming a therapist!
